TOP OF EUROPE

Interlaken - Grindelwald - Lauterbrunnen - Jungfrau

This is one of our favorite circuits in Switzerland! Ideal to visit in Spring and Summer because of the striking contrats of the snowed white mountains and the green surroundings.

The itinerary by train is the most convenient. From Geneva, you can take the train to Interlaken. Personally, I would not stop in Interlaken unless you have a lot of time, I would just take the connection to either Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen. Those two towns are 20 minutes apart by train. I would recommend staying in Grindelwald and visiting Lauterbrunnen from there.

In Grindelwald, take the telepheric to First. There you will visit the famous First Cliff Walk. If you feel like walking, I recommend the trekking to Bachalpsee.

From Lauterbrunnen, apart from walking around the town, you can take the train to Jungfrau. The intermediate stops are very beautiful, I recommend stopping at the last stop before the top to have a walk with the stunning mountains background. Then get on the train and be ready to put some winter clothes to visit the top. Another interesting visit from the town is the Schynige Platte.

Alternatively, you can go up to the top with the telepheric from either Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald.

Check the website of TOP OF EUROPE for more information. Check the tickets to visit the area.

FANCY MOUNTAIN TRIP

Zermatt

Zermatt is our favourite place in Switzerland. No matter the season, Zermatt has a lot to offer. We celebrated very special moments in this town, including anniversaries and family holidays.

Zermatt is a car-free town, so you can only arrive by train. The train ride is 4 hours, but the view is so beautiful that you won’t regret it.

If you are in a rush or a budget, take the first train in the morning and be there by 10.00. Then leave in the last train back to Geneva.

For this quick visit, take the train up Gornergrat (in front of main train station). Then cross the town and take the telepheric to visit the glaciar (don’t forget to take your winter coat). Personally, If I had to choose between hiking around the town or visiting the glaciar, I would do the first.

For a longer visit or to save some money, from Gornergrat, you can walk down to Zermatt (or at least some stations). The views are worth it! Check the hiking paths here.

From Zermatt, there are also many treking paths and other activities like paragliding and biking.

- Half-fare train pass is valid to go up the mountain. Also check Peak Pass.

DREAMY GOURMAND TRIP

Gruyère

You can arrive by car (1h30) or train (2h30). The city center looks like a fairytale town. This is the best place to eat fondue and try the double-crème. You can choose to visit the Cailler and/or the Gruyère cheese factory.
